About Us
The South Sydney Amateur Fishing Association, incorporated in NSW, was founded in 1978 and is one of the oldest and largest fishing clubs in Australia.
The club is affiliated with the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA), the NSW division of the Fishing Clubs’ Association (FCA), the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) of NSW, and the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA).
Our members fish blue-water, rocks, estuary, beach and fresh water. Members travel throughout NSW to compete in both ANSA and FCA conventions.
The club also conducts its own monthly open competitions, 365-day board and boat competitions, and throughout the fishing year organises social club outings to various “special spots”.
South Sydney AFA is a friendly and family-oriented club and holds family social functions as well as fishing events.
South Sydney AFA is unique in that it is one of the few fishing clubs in Sydney with its own clubhouse, boat storage, fish cleaning and weigh-in facilities.
The club holds a formal meeting night on the first Wednesday of every month at the clubhouse at approximately 8pm, where guest speakers, films, fishing reports and information sessions are provided for all members, guests and visitors. Informal meetings are held every other Wednesday.
Membership is open to anyone interested in the sport of amateur fishing. Applications can be made online by selecting Join or Renew under the Membership menu. Be sure to study the Fees page before commencing your application.
Prospective members are welcome to visit the club on any Wednesday evening from 7pm. Please make yourself known to a committee member on arrival.
