About Us

South Sydney Amateur Fishing Association was founded in 1978 and is one of the oldest and largest amateur fishing associations in the Sydney area.

The club is affiliated with the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA), New South Wales division of the Fishing Clubs’ Association (FCA), the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) of NSW and the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA).

Our members fish blue-water, rocks, estuary, beach and fresh water. Members travel throughout NSW to fish both ANSA and FCA conventions.

The club also conducts its own monthly open competitions, 365-day board and boat competitions, and throughout the fishing year organises social club outings to various “special spots”.

South Sydney AFA is a friendly and family-oriented club and holds family social functions as well as fishing events.

South Sydney AFA is unique in that it is one of the few fishing clubs in Sydney with its own club house, boat storage, fish cleaning and weigh-in facilities.

The club holds a formal meeting night on the first Wednesday of every month at the clubhouse at approximately 8pm, where guest speakers, films, fishing reports and information sessions are provided for all members, guests and visitors.

Visitors are very welcome to attend the club on any Wednesday night for a social get-together, and membership is open to all interested in the sport of amateur fishing.
